LOCAL, REGIONAL & GLOBAL MISSIONS
Christ United Methodist Church is proud to participate in many local, regional, and local mission projects throughout the year, led primarily by our Men's and Women's Groups.
Mission Projects
In the past we have participated in flood and disaster relief around the world, we give to UMCOR, Rise Against Hunger, and Food Buckets for Zimbabwe, “Hands On” Mission Project - Buckets for Liberia, and areas of our conference who are hit by natural disaster.
"Hands On" Mission Project Buckets for Liberia due May 6th!
For decades now, the Holston Conference has made a significant impact on children in Liberia and Zimbabwe through the Hands-on-Mission kits. Thanks to the generosity of Holston churches, millions of dollars of school supplies, food buckets, and health kits have continued to flow to our mission partners in Liberia and Zimbabwe, serving as vital lifelines of support. This year, we continue the special tradition but with a new twist.
For the country of Liberia, we will be assembling kits for children through our partners in the Liberia Annual Conference. We hope to completely fill a large container.
For Zimbabwe, we have a change for 2026. Instead of assigning physical kits to Zimbabwe, friends and churches are asked to consider providing virtual kits for $5 per kit. Due to current shipping costs and the challenges of fees associated with the container going to Zimbabwe, we’ve made the difficult decision to pivot, and are buying the needed supplies in Zimbabwe at wholesale prices to maximize our donations. Without the high fees associated with customs, the items purchased through your donations will be assembled “in country” for the children at Ishe Anesu.
Please consider participating in this year's hands-on-mission kits (both physical and virtual) - here are the specifics of what and how to donate.
